English subject experience

Hellooo
Today’s theme is going to be about the reason of all of this blogs, the English subject!

To talk about this I have to make a flashback, when I was younger, like 13 years old, when I did not even knew why English was really important in real life.

The woman who taught me this language on high school, I can say she was one of the best teachers I ever had. She makes me want to learn and also motivated me to be better. Thanks to her I get my certification on the English SIMCE, and also I get exempt from taking “English A1” and “English A2” at university.

I know my knowledge, but the second year of Forestal engineer, I get so nervous when I had to take the third course of English, I think it was going to be really hard, but actually not. It was fun, it put me on danger when I had to talk in front of the class, I almost die, but I get good grades at the final exam, I am satisfied.

And in the final course of this subject, I get nervous again XD ‘’New teacher, she looks tough” – I thought, but, again, actually not. The classes have been really fun and I learned more than I think I did. The themes of the blogs have been more interesting than the last course. The videos was new for me, I felt like a youtuber D:, but it’s noticeable that the teacher did a great job.

I actually use English every day since high school; I learn more vocabulary every time I see words I don’t know and it feels great when someone ask me to translate something.

That’s it, regards to everyone! <3

Changes to my study programme

Helloo!
Today I'm going to talk to you, from my view of point, what things I would like to change (forever) of my/our study programme.

First of all, postpone a year of study is something that anyone want to do, for reasons of time and money. For this I would like that every subject would be biannual, and also have the possibility to do it again the next semester, so you can choose what subject you want to take and go on your own rate. This, in my case, would make everything easier, the stress load would decrease, because the university forces you to take a certain amount of subject that are not recommendable to people who doesn't take too well the stress.

Second, teachers. I know they are good on what they do, but not all the teachers we have are really teachers (they could be engineers, idk), and consequently, they don't teach well. To prevent this, at least I would make every professional (not teacher) to take subject of pedagogy, because they are not giving us the neces
sary to learn, and their way to evaluate is not the best.

Third, the infrastructure of this faculty is well, but I would like to add a computers classroom, but with no class (a mean, teachers are not allow to kick out the student xd). With this, students will have the time to study calmly. Also I would like to add an assembly hall, the enough big necessary, so they interested on the academic themes are allow to sit in comfort and not on the ground, like we use to do already.

And finally, a gym of free use for students and workers of the faculty. This would make better the healthy of everyone who want to use it, and also release tension of study and work.

Everyone has a lot to say!!! >:C
bye:)

Herbarium

Hi everyone! The topic of today is '' my experience making the herbarium ''. First of all, I can say it was the most stressful activity of the year. In part, it was the fact of looking for the native species, but it was the worst the fact of knowing that we have a limit of time to do it.
Sometimes I went out with friends to climb hills, or practice activities, but in another chance I went alone to Cerro San Cristobal, and that was the day when I collected almost the half of my herbarium. It was great that day because it was raining but softly, and I could spend a day with myself. It was great
It took me about 6 months looking for species and drying them, some get bad and I had to look for some new. In my case, I have to say I never knew what it was on my hands (I mean the specie) 'till I started to put them on files, and write the name of the sample; but not until that day, I just knew that I had a bunch of leafs drying.
The night I had to spend like 5 hours sewing 30 samples to paperboards, writing on a file the scientific name, the common name, the day and the place where I found it, and the coordinates, but I can say it was the night when I learned a lot I started to remember names, characteristics and knowing how to recognize them.
What can I say? It was great after all the stress
Bye!

Postgrade

Good evenning everyone, again, well now we still talking about studies, but todays theme is about something that can happen in, maybe, 4, 5 years, depending on the person, of course.
If I have to chose a postgrade after getting the license of Forestry engineer, I think the course for me will be a Magister of Wilderness and Nature Conservation. The main reason is the same one when I postulated to Forestry, because I want to work on conservation and take care of nature. I would like to have subject about species on different parts of the world, like ‘’biotics’’, a first year subject of forestry, but I would like it to be more intense. Also, subjects of conservations plans for species in danger. In synthesis, courses to be a better forestry engineer :D.

I don’t actually know how long take to work on a Magister, but I think two years (?), it is a reasonable time, I guess…

I would prefer it to be a part-time course, so I can work on other things to pay it.
It has been a dream for me, studing maybe a year out of Chile, possibly a country with english language, so I would work also on my english.

So that’s it, I hope this works in a few years, I would feel like a complete student. :D
Bye!

My future job

How difficult can be thinking about a future job. When I think about that, it comes to my mind something that I would be doing during my whole life, but I don't want that.
In the best of the cases, acording to my actual career, I would be working on National Reserves around the world. I imagine it like an outdoors job, studing diferent species of plants and animals, and also making conservation plans for those. Exploring different countrys and meet new people, passing for different climates and landscapes.
Caring about nature, always calls me, and have the knowing and the power to do something for it, would fill up my heart.

Talking about money, I would like the people pay me proportionally to the heft of my work, I will be happy if I WIN the money, and not receive it like a gift.

That would be my perfect job, but also I would like to work someday with food, take a gastronomy career in a future to practice myself. Cooking and tasting are my real sins, I know I will be in the circle of Gluttony in hell when I die.
But analizing this, the fact of working with my hands, touching and feeling new things woud be escencial in my future and happy job :)

Bye!

Traditions in our Independence day

With my family, the independence day celebration lasts at leas 3 days.
The first day, we do meet on a barbecue and lunch all together, we also listen to national music, like '' cueca '' or '' pascuence '' and we do not watch TV, so anyone falls away from the conversation haha.
the second day we eat '' empanadas '', we usually buy 20 or 25, so no one gets the craving. Also we go to '' Fondas '' or go to a park to spend the day out of the house.
I can say that I completely love the national dance, I love watching it, I love dancing it. It is really beautiful to watch how the boy tries to chase the girl with perseverance for at least 2 minutes haha.
And now it's getting a tradition (for me) to see my brother's little daughter dances at the school. It is cute and awesome to notice her advances about not forgetting the choreography and her enthusiasm. This year I taked my boyfriend to see my niece with me and my niece's mother. It was absolutely beautiful and the most cute experience for the three of us watch a lot of guys from 5 years old dancing
The other two days are like a mix beetwen the first two days, but we still together everyday, I hope it does not change with the years.

My favorite food(s)

I think we all have a problem at the moment of choosing a favorite food, specieally with all the kind of meats and vegetals.
In my case, I can say that I have two favorite plates, noodles with bolognese sauce and fish with rice (and salads) (or fries), salty food.
I have a really good memory with noodles with sauce, because when my brother, my parents and I lived in my grandmother's house, I remember my mom cooking for us, when cousins and uncles used to visited us, like 10 years ago, good times.
I also have good memories about fish and rice, but this is every year, when we go to the beach, the place where I was born, and we don't eat anything more than fish (in the case of meats), it reminds me times of touring, laughing and new air.
I think I preffer a mix beetwen junk and healthy food, because it taste good, and also it's not too much for my body.

With years and practice I learned how to cook this plates, of course, it don't taste like my mother's way, but I still learning.

Best concert ever

The picture up there was taken the 1st of May, 2014, in our city, Santiago, Chile.
That day, I remember, it was cold, almost raining, but even with that climate, I was the happiest girl ever, and I can talk for everyone there that day.
Estadio Nacional was the specific place where thousands of fans came to see One Direction, a band of 4 british guys and 1 irish guy. They started their career in 2010 on X factor, a program of talents, and the rest is history.

Back in the day of the concert, arriving there, the first I saw was a lot of girls on a line waiting for doors to open at 1:00 pm, (I waited on that line for almost 4 hours) and once opened, it was like a stampede, you could feel the adrenaline in the air in that moment.
After we take our sites, my best friend, my cousin and I had to wait for another 8 hours to the concert to start. It started raining while we were waiting and we had to use our coats to protect us from water, haha.
But after all, the most beautiful moment was when the introduction video started. We all were screaming with all our power, in just few seconds we'll finally see One direction after 4 years waiting for the to came to our country. Every song, every voice I heard that day I’ll remember it forever.
Best day ever.

A place I would LOVE to visit

When reality surpasses fiction
Hi! In this oportunitie, I have the pleasure to introduce you one of the most beautiful light shows in the world. Atacama desert has the lucky on being part of the cleanest skies in Chile, showing , and also a big area of study for astronomers around the world.
Anyone that who walked aroun Cerro Paranal in Atacama desert may have been lucky enough to witness the overwhelming view of the ocean of stars shining brightly in the sky, and that is what calls me to go on there in first place.
The lights, colours, and the idea of an infinity cosmo blows my mind. It is a little bit scary, but also make me wanna go deep on it. It’s such a new world of study, and the possibility to at lest look at it with my own eyes and not in a picture, one of my life goals will be complete.
Anyone that loves cosmos should be part of the light shows in Atacama desert  .

Bye!

Maths

It's really weird for me, I have never enjoyed studing maths, I actually haven't good marks, but this year, still not having good marks haha, but I really liked it.
I understand it, and it is fun, I do not get sleepy at the class and I do not get bored. it catch all my atention and that makes me feel so good. I like to go to math class lately, I totally get the teacher's lessons. Obviously I have failed in some tests, but that does not put me down, it makes me want to know more about the subject.
That makes me wonder if it was the teacher who makes me feel more contfortable with maths. She explains everything with apples and pears, she's close to the students and alwways give seconds ( or even third) oporttunities to the ones who can't past the test. There is when I think, the world needs more teachers like her. I think she understand that not everyone has the same abilities.
I like maths more than before, I really feel that I can get better marks.
My experience in the second year of college. :3

7: Websites

Hi everyone!
I can say that I'm a person who really spend time on internet, but my list of websites is too short.
It will sound a little cliche, but today I'm going to talk to you about Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/) , but why? Because it is a plataform to every kind of person, for every kind of knowledge, like math, science, biology, and also entertainment, like humoristic blogs, series, movies, etc.
This website has been helping me all this time, because I can watch a ''x'' teacher talking about integrals or cells or ecologic processs and I can learn from them, and it helps me to study and have better grades in university.

Giving you that little introduction, now I want to show you one of my favorites channels of science. I'm talking about this man. Aldo Bartra. He has a channel on youtube called ''El Robot de Platón'' (https://www.youtube.com/user/ElRobotdePlaton). It's a science channel, he talk about almost everything that is around us, for example universe, animals, plants, tecnology, present, future, chemistry, etc. His only objective is to transmite knowledge in every posible way and create opinions on his viewers. He gives explanations to weird phenomenons of nature and make small documentals about curiosities of animals and stuff. It is very interesting, you can always learn something new. I invite you to visit his channel.
no regrets!

Memories

2016
Hello to everyone, this is a sad story. A 'x' laboral day, we (my family) were so worried about this little dog, he was never our dog, but we love him like if it was. Days before the picture, he got an operation in his back foot, he had a tumor, but we get to a doctor whose tried to save him before the sickness killed him. The day of the picture, the  area of the operation was hurting him, and we thought he was about to die. We ran to the veterinary, we waited there almost one hour and half, it was so sad, me and my mom started crying, we tought he couldn't make it.
Finally, the doctor said that the pain got him like that, quiet, in silence and sad. he gave him a medicine and we could take him back home. the medicine make him tolerate better the pain, and we could give it to him days later when he felt bad.
Colo lived well for a few months. In december he finally past away.
we remember him with that cute face he had been putting when someone was  petting him, or feeding him, with a thankfull face we remember him, and all the other families that helped us to give a better life to Colo in the time left.
thanks for reading, bye.

Beauty lights in the dark

In this case, may not everyone agrees to this, but I think every good person need a little of this kind of love, love for pets. Dogs, cats, birds, rats and every kind of pet, every kind of heart, bigs and little ones, every single one give the most real and incondicional love that I could ever experiment in my life. In my case, I had a little dog, her name is Dakota, I had her since my 11 years, she has been the love of my life. she's always there, everynight sleep with me, I know her so well, she get very happy when I get home, is the first to say ''hi''. I try to take care of her always, just like my family. But now there's two more members in the family. Another little dog, called Eevee and a beautiful bird called Panchito (I put him his name, is perfect). We trate them with the same love we had for Dakota, we take care of them (Panchito fell from a tree when he was a baby and he couldn't fly).
Of course I'm talking about a domesticated pets, but now, what about stray dogs? those lonely souls that walk in the street looking for a little bit of love. I think is so unfair for those animals to have a life like that. They deserve love, someone who take care of them, food, warmness, a good life like the pure souls that they are.
I love to had a animal lover's family, that help me so much when I want to help a dog. There were three dogs living out of my home. We try to help them the most we could. We give them food and we love them just like our pets. Unfortunally two of them died beetwen the last and the present year. We take them to a veterinary when their were sick. We try the best, why not the rest? If you can help, feed, or even say hi a stray dog, please do it. you don't know how much the need a little love-.

Piece of technology

Hiiiiii!
Well, from my view, the cellphones has turned in my favourite piece of technology. Why i say this? Because in almost in every area of my daily day, this thing has been so helpfull. For example, when I want to listen to music, read a book, search for information, watch videos, meet new people, play games, call a familiar, chat with friends or even something so easy like watch the time. For everything almost. Comunication, entretainment, information, individuality; it's like a computer, but smaller, and you can put in your pocket.
It is sad in some way how the technology can make us so dependant, but it is awesome that it make almost everything so much easier. It is advancing by leaps and bounds

Why Forestry?

All this procces of decide of what i was going to be (and do) the rest of my life started seriously in the 3th grade of high school, in my first vocational fair. A lot of careers came to my school, talking about what are they and what they do. At first, I thought ''Civil  Engineering must be the best for me'' and since then, I started to look in a serious way the university. In the 4th grade, another vocational fair came to my school, and with them, a career from Universidad de Chile, Forestry. Sincerely, I've never heard about that career, so i went to ask about. Exactly in that moment I knew what would be my perfect career. Forestry becomes in the most important goal of my life in that moment, it was like love at first sight. The conectivity and the commitment with nature, of taking care, use it correctly, make some difference in the world was something that i always wanted to do, and I thing that Forestry is my way to make it. I feel in my bones that Forestry is for me. The joy I felt in the moment I saw the results was, is and will be something that I'll never forget. <3

Hiii people!

Today I have the pleasure of telling you a small history, my history! a little biography of the one who's talking to you. My name is Catalina, borned and grown till' the 5 years near to the beach , that in some rare way, makes me a lover of sea food according to my mom
My familiar circle is composed by my mom, dad, big brother and grandmother, and also my little dog. Passing through two schools when I was a teenage, I always wanted to enter in a university, even when the schools where i was wasn't the best of the best, but lucky me, I had the best teachers of math and language (to me, of course). Well, that puts me here, in Universidad de Chile, actually studing Forestry.
Also, I can say that I have a little big love to music, and two of their expressions, like sing-I'm not the best but i eyjoy it so much- and dance- nearly five years in a little school of dance-
That's almost me, a very resumed life story.
read you.
xxoo.
PD: I like 1D <3
